A weekend fly fishing from the boat at Ladybower

I took a friend out fly fishing on Ladybower at the weekend. As he was a beginner I decided to take a boat out as I tough this would make casting easier. As it turned out it didn't, unfortunately his casting was just not good enough to get a fly out. So I put on a strike indicator and a buzzer at about three feet of depth and drifting close up to the damn wall I casted out for him and told him to lift in to any fish that pulled the indicator under the water.

After about 5 mins there was an excited shout and my friend lifted in to his first fish. We managed to land it - a rainbow of about one and a half pounds.

I fished a variety of different methods from the boat and landed 4 fish for myself one which was dead on 2 pounds which was really pleased about as it finally broke my 2 pound jinx!

One thing I have noticed about Ladybower is that lures have started to become a bit less productive. Buzzers and bloodworm imitations seem to be fishing a lot better. This happens every year when the temperature warms up the fish start to switch on to their natural food resources and become less aggressive to lures stripped through the water.
